October 2017 News

Hello, Motion Families! It is time to begin another year! We are excited to welcome new families and look forward to a fabulous year together! Here are important October updates:
 TUITION DUE
For those not on auto draft, please remember that October tuition is due by the 5th or a late fee is charged. Tuition is due by the 5th of each month, even if we are closed for a holiday. You are welcome to mail your payment into the studio or place it in an envelope in our mailbox by our front door. The studio address is:
A Body in Motion the Studio
If tuition is continually late, you can stop by the front desk to fill out an auto draft form at any time to avoid future late fees. Please contact Cindy@abodyinmotion.us for any questions or concerns regarding tuition payments and/or auto draft. Thank you!
DRESS CODE VIOLATIONS
All families received a copy of our Dress Code when their child was registered for classes or shortly thereafter. Please make sure you have actually read the Dress Code and that your child is compliant. We have students routinely showing up with the wrong shoes, attire, or hair not secured back away from the face.
  • DENIM/JEAN SHORTS OR PANTS ARE NOT ON THE DRESS CODE FOR ANY CLASS.
  • TIGHTS SHOULD BE WORN WITH LEOTARDS. We are dancers, not gymnasts. We wear tights or leggings, please.
We understand that it takes a little time to adjust with the start of the school year, but as we head into October, children in constant violation will be sent back out to parents to be dressed properly. As I tell all my families, you would not send your child to soccer practice in flip flops, blue jeans, or a bathing suit. Motion instructors ask for the same courtesy. Thank you.
OCTOBER CLOSINGS
Please be advised that A Body in Motion will close Tues, October 31st in observance of Halloween. Thank you!
SHOE DRIVE FOR CHILDREN RECOVERING FROM HURRICANE DEVASTATION
A Body in Motion is combining efforts with Aldersgate United Methodist Church Carrollton to collect new closed toe casual shoes and sneakers for the charity organization, Shoes for Orphan Souls, through Sat, Oct 14th. For every pair of shoes donated, A Body in Motion will match the donation, up to 100 pairs of shoes! Please be advised that shoes will first be dispersed to needy children in Texas and Florida, but any left-over shoes will be sent to poor orphanages in US Territories or other countries as many children without families have been left with absolutely nothing. Please drop off shoe donations at our front desk. Let’s GET IN MOTION and help children far less fortunate!
ADVANCED DANCE INTENSIVE OCTOBER 14TH
For our teens/young adults prepping for High School Drill Team Elite, Drill Team Dance Officer, College, or Pro Dance, or just wanting to take an advanced dance class, A Body in Motion will host monthly Dance Intensives meant to push dancers to a higher level. Our next Dance Intensive is scheduled for Sat, Oct 14th from 12:30-3:30 pm! ($30) We will cover Pom, Hip Hop, and Audition Dance Technique and Combos. Don’t wait till Spring auditions to prep! Start working NOW for the uniform you hope to achieve!
CHRISTMAS SHOW
We are hard at work planning A Body in Motion’s first annual holiday production, A Christmas in Motion! While we are still working with the city, please tentatively mark your calendars for Sat, Dec. 16th from 2-4pm as the date of our show. There will be a follow-up email with more details once we have secured the gazebo area with the city.
We are hoping to keep costs down for studio families and are looking for business sponsors to help cover the costs of stage rental and program printing. If you own a business and would like to be a business sponsor of A Christmas in Motion, please let us know and we will send you more details! Thank you!
SOCIAL MEDIA
Please be advised that A Body in Motion follows Carrollton/Farmers Branch on inclement weather closings. Follow our studio on social media for current updates.
Social media provides a much faster avenue for info over email. Please follow the studio and check in regularly!
